Washing Instructions

Hand Wash or Machine Wash

• Fill the machine or tub with cold water.
• Add liquid detergent free of dyes and perfumes to water (i.e. Tide Free and Clear* or Woolite*) or use white vinegar (throws/twins = 6 cups; full = 7 cups; queen/king = 8 cups)
• Ensure all detergent or vinegar is dissolved by allowing the mixture to sit for 15 minutes.
• Place the quilt in the washer or tub and allow it to soak for 20 minutes.
• Proceed to wash on the delicate cycle.
• Remove quilt immediately after the cycle is complete. Stitching may unravel because of the weight of the wet quilt so use caution and grace when removing the wet quilt from the washing machine.
• Line dry or lay flat. Use the dryer at your own risk except on ragged quilts. Drying in the dryer accentuates the look of the ragged quilt but be sure to dry on the lowest setting.
• If washing a red quilt, add extra vinegar to assist in the setting of the quilt’s color and/or use a Shout Color Catcher*.

*I am not being paid to mention these noted products above. They are the products that I use when washing my own quilts or the quilts for Raggedly Lucky, except for Woolite which to date I have not used with my quilts.
